Flicker has evolved over the past 20 years or so from a portfolio website showcasing Tanya’s work in web design to documenting the many photographic projects she has undertaken. Tanya earned her BA (Hons) in Fine Art Photography at Glasgow School of Art and more recently an MA in Photography at the London College of Communication.
Tanya has always believed in art as a necessary part of what it is to be human. How each person decides to navigate this winding road is a personal decision. Tanya’s choice to follow a more academic route has presented her with many questions. She holds nothing against the academic way of thinking that currently dominates art education. And certainly, it suits and benefits those who think in this way. However, Tanya feels there is space for a more intuitive process in a person’s art practice. A space for thought and contemplation that can breathe outside the prevailing notion of the artist as trendsetter and influencer, brand specialist and marketing expert.
Flicker contains Tanya’s thoughts and ideas about the type of photography and photographic experience that lies within the wider, public domain. The posts are written by Tanya Clarke, an artist/photographer. Or is that photographer/artist. Or a photographic artist. Or photographer. Anyway. Tanya works with photography.
Tanya currently lives with her husband and two daughters in North Vancouver, Canada.
